Socrates is one of the restaurants in Platanias that is worth returning to. The view and atmosphere, especially at sunset, are exceptional, while the food stands out for its quality and generous portions. The grilled octopus and stifado were particularly delicious, and the saganaki was also very good. Even though the restaurant was full when we arrived, the owner did everything possible to find us a table and make sure we were well taken care of. The staff is always polite and welcoming, consistently maintaining a high level of service. Overall, it is a very good choice for dining in Platanias.
We discovered this restaurant through trip advisor. All week we were looking up from the strip in Platanias and saw the "restaurants on the hill" and we wanted to see the sunset from up there. We thought the view would be the star of the show (and it is amazing) but the food is the real star. It's obvious why this is the #1 restaurant in Platanias. The food was simply stunning and the service was equally attentive and friendly.
This is a very well known restaurant for me and my family. We are looking forward to meeting family running it and enjoying their fabulous food and drinks. Today is their first day for the season 2026!! View from the terrace of this place is a must, when in Platanias village! Breathtaking!!
It's a walk up the hill from the road but definitely worth it. Great gf options, visited twice & staters so good had them again - vine leaves & baked feta. Mains had moussaka, stroganoff, lamb & beef - all excellent & left clean plates. Friendly & efficient service. Most of all would go back.
We came to this restaurant after looking at the reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. A family runs the restaurant, with the father responsible for service and Viktor the son waiting tables, and Mamma's cooking — wow, fantastic! We visited twice during our stay and I can say the food was plentiful, delicious and so authentic, exactly what you want when you go out to try local food. We also tried the homemade Raki that was given to us after dinner, so delicious, especially the one with honey and cinnamon. The service was excellent, no waiting for food, and very attentive. Also great value for money — drinks and food for less than 50 euros for the two of us. I also forgot to mention the view! You can sit and watch the sun set while you eat dinner, as the restaurant sits on a hill, a highlight in Platanias that gives you a fantastic view. We will definitely come back again next year. Thank you so much for the fantastic food and hospitality — you made us feel so welcome, we really enjoyed our visits.
